The Central Michigan Chippewas go on the road to take the field with the Ball State Cardinals in week eleven.
Central Michigan had won consecutive games before runnining in to Jordan Lynch and Northern Illinois and coming away with a 38-17 defeat. Not enough scoring and too much Lynch who ran for 316 yards and threw for another 155 as the Huskies approached 600 total yards. The Chippewas were not nearly as successful moving the chains with 346 yards and a pair of turnovers. Saylor Lavalli was the lone source of rushing yardage with 53 yards on 16 carries with the team totaling 85 yards and around two per touch. Cooper Rush threw for 271 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a pick but missed out on some throws with a 16-32 performance saying as much. Titus Davis and Andrew Flory were the receiving stars with a combined 190 yards on ten receptions with a score apiece.
Ball State is locked in a battle with Northern Illinois for supremacy in the MAC West with both teams checking in with a 5-0 conference mark. The Cardinals racked up their 6th straight win with a 42-24 victory at Akron behind another big offensive display. Both teams checked in with 430+ yards but BSU benefitted by three Zips turnovers and the ability to finish off drives with touchdowns. Jahwan Edwards ran for a team high 120 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown but the real damage was done by Keith Wenning through the air. Wenning connected on 25-35 for 240 yards for five touchdowns and zero interceptions with Jordan Williams and Willie Snead combining for 19 catches for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns apiece.
This is a must win game for Ball State to simply keep pace with Northern Illinois and this would make the Chippewas season with the upset. I'm going with potential here...
