The Stanford Cardinal and the Oregon Ducks face off on Thursday Night in Palo Alto in a Pac-12 mega battle as well as a battle of two of the top five teams in the BCS standings.
The Stanford Cardinal come into this game with one loss but they also have the confidence in knowing that they beat Oregon last year on the road. Despite the one loss Stanford has been outstanding this season and offensively they are averaging 32.6 points and 389.6 yards per game with five interceptions and six fumbles. Kevin Hogan has completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,493 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions and he has rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Gaffney has rushed for 886 yards and 12 touchdowns and he has caught nine passes with a receiving touchdown. Ty Montgomery has 39 catches for 619 yards and five touchdowns and Devon Cajuste has 21 catches for 77 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively Stanford allows 19.4 points and 353.4 yards per game with nine interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and 27 sacks. Shayne Skov has 63. Tackles and 3.5 sacks, A.J. Tarpley has 61 tackles, and Ed Reynolds has 54 tackles. Stanford will definitely play a huge role in ho things shake out in the National Title picture.

The Oregon Ducks have looked almost unbeatable thus far this season as they have steamrolled every team they have played and are currently third in the BCS standings. Oregon’s offense is averaging 55.6 points and 632.1 yards and they have turned the ball over 10 times. Marcus Mariota is a Heisman Trophy candidate as he is completing 64 percent of his passes for 2,281 yards with 20 touchdowns and no interceptions and he has rushed for 511 yards and nine touchdowns. Byron Marshall has rushed for 879 yards and 12 touchdowns and DeAnthony Thomas is averaging 7.1 yards per carry and he has seven touchdowns. Josh Huff has 38 receptions and six touchdowns and Bralon Addison has 38 catches an seven touchdowns. Defensively Oregon is allowing 16.9 points and 359.2 yards with 13 intercpetions, 10 fumble recoveries, and 23 sacks. Derrick Malone has 69 tackles, Ifa Ekpre-Olomu has 44 tackles, and Tony Washington has 7.5 sacks. Oregon is going to be tough to take down this season and with the Ducks bouncing between two and three in the BCS standings don’t expect them to be taking their foot off the gas if they get ahead.
Stanford is 19-6-1 against the spread following a game in which they covered the point spread, 18-8 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 36-17-1 against the spread in their last 54 games. Oregon is 14-2 against the spread in their last 16 games, 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 road games, and 15-5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Oregon has covered the point spread in eight of the last 11 meetings of these two.
The total in this one is set at 62 but outside of last year's game all of the recent meetings of these two have gone well over that number so my free pick is on the over. I also have a play on the winning side I will post in the Premium Area and will make available on the Sports Chat Place App.
