The Army Black Knights face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers for the first time ever in week eleven.
Western Kentucky has been fighting to stay in the postseason picture and took a step in the right direction with a 44-27 victory at Georgia State to up their record to 5-4 with three games left. The Hilltoppers led 24-7 at the break but seemed to back off defensively over the final 30 minutes when the Panthers rattled off 21 points. The balance WKU attack overcame the pass heavy Panthers offense with both teams posting more then 400 yards. Antonio Andrews paced the rushing attack 110 yards on 22 totes with Leon Allen adding another 61 yards on nine carries. Brandon Doughty connected on 15-24 for 206 yards with a touchdown and interception with the key for this offense being minimal mistakes which has plagued them.

Army is the owner of the nation's top ranked rushing attack at 339 yards per contest but unfortunately that hasn't translated into a great deal of success with the Black Kniffalling to 3-6 following a 42-28 defeat at the Air Force in week ten. The Black Knights totaled 308 rushing yards with Terry Baggett leading the way with 121 yards on 20 carries with a trip to the end zone. Army did a decent job through the air for a team that seldom throws with Angel Santiago completing 8-14 for 109 yards. The problem was the Falcons were unstoppable on the ground with with 343 rushing yards and 7 1/2 yard average which completely negated the Black Knights time of possession advantage which stood at over 37 minutes and showed this can be an over rated stat.
The key for Western Kentucky is getting a lead and limiting mistakes because Army can't throw the ball worth a hoot. If the Black Knights force a few mistakes I believe they can keep things close so I'll take the points and look at this throughout the week...
