The Marshall Thundering Herd welcome the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers to town for a Cusa tilt.
I have watched countless Alabama-Birmingham games and have seen more bad then good but week ten's 24-21 loss to visiting Middle Tennessee State was about as disappointing as it gets. UAB went from a 10-0 lead to 21-13 hole only to tie it with just under two minutes remaining only to watch MTSU drive 70+ yards to kick the game winning field goal with three seconds left. Such is life for Blazers football who were out gained 429-356 yet held the ball for nearly 39 minutes. Jonathan Perry had a short afternoon in the air, going 6-9 for 57 yards with a touchdown and pick while running for 34 yards. The ground was where UAB prospered with Jordan Howard (23-154) and Darrin Reaves (27-111) doing plenty of damage. The goat of this game was the defense who couldn't get a stop in the final minute.

Marshall gave their postseason hopes a boost Saturday with an easy 61-13 victory over a struggling Southern Mississippi. The offense was clicking on all cylinders with 636 yards behind a balanced attack that was able to run and throw whenever and where ever they pleased. The Thundering Herd led 28-0 after 15 minutes and never let up as they ripped off huge chunks of yardage. The rushing game totaled over 300 yards and averaged nearly 11 1/2 yards per touch behind the duo of Kevin Grooms and Essray Taliaferro combining for 217 yards on 16 carries including 75 and 55 yard Touchdown runs. Rakeem Cato was on target with a 21-28 performance producing 262 yards and five scores with nine players recording receptions. The defense held the Golden Eagles to 397 yards and bent but didn't break although it didn't matter.
I think we'll see some points here but the total has not been released and the Marshall team total is not out either. I will throw this out there until all the numbers are released...
