The Utah State Aggies travel to Sam Boyd Stadium to take the field with the UNLV Rebels.
With star quarterback Chuckie Keeton gone for the year Utah State has been trying to salvage their season for a postseason berth. It's been mission accomplished so far with a 47-10 victory over visiting Hawaii giving the team back to back wins and upped their record to 5-4. The Aggies were strong on both sides of the ball with a 533-319 yardage edge and a 23-3 lead at the break all but ending the Warriors hopes at an upset. Joey DeMartino paced the run with 104 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown while Darell Garretson tossed fpr 370 yards and three TD's and a pick. This wasn't all offense with the D recording three interceptions including a 99 yard pick six.

Bowl and UNLV have not been used in the same sentense for quite a long time but the 5-4 Rebels controll their own fate with three games remaining. UNLV could have made things much easier on themselves last time out but instead made things a little harder following a 34-24 loss to San Jose State. The Rebels were done in by a poor first half in which they trailed 24-3 and were never able to rebound from. Too much San Jose offense that approached 500 yards while much of the Rebels 351 yards came in the final 30 minutes. The problem was the normally balanced attack couldn't get going on the ground with only 86 yards which put the pressure of moving the chains on Caleb Herring and the receiving corps. Herring connected on 26-49 for 265 yards and a pair of scores and two interceptions.
UNLV is much improved and far more dangerous then most people think. Utah State has to play well on defense because the Rebels are very capable of scoring and covering this spread otherwise...
