The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dropped to 4-5 overall, 2-4 ACC, after losing at Syracuse 13-0 on Saturday. The offense gained only 213 yards, with only 40 yards on the ground. QB Tanner Price passed for 173 yards while throwing an interception. WR Michael Campanaro, who entered the game third all-time in the ACC with 227 catches, was shaken up in the first quarter and left the game with an injury to his left shoulder. RB Josh Harris rushed for only 47 yards in the loss. Price has thrown for 1,951 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Harris leads the team in rushing with 302 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Campanaro has a team-high 803 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns this year. Wake Forest ranks a lousy 112th in points scored this year, averaging just over 19 points per game. The Wake Forest defense allowed 352 total yards to the Orange. The Demon Deacons were not able to force any turnovers, but they did a great job getting off the field on third down. The Demon Deacons defense ranks 20th in points allowed, giving up less than 20 points per game this season. Wake Forest will head home for this weekend’s game; the Demon Deacons are 3-1 at home this season.
The over is 6-0 in Florida State’s last 6 games following an ATS win. Wake Forest is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in November. The underdog is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings.
Florida State has won three of the last four meetings with Wake Forest, including a 52-0 win last year in Tallahassee. Wake Forest beat Florida State two years ago at home 35-30, but this is a far superior Florida State team than two years ago. Wake Forest has played well at home this year and they have a good defense that helps keep them in most of their games. This may be a letdown spot for the Seminoles after a blowout win over in-state rival Miami last weekend. Even though I don’t think Wake Forest will score many points in this game, I think their defense can keep them within 30 points. I’ll take the home dog in this one.
