The North Carolina State Wolfpack travel to Boston College to play the Eagles on Saturday.
NC State dropped to 3-6 overall, 0-6 ACC, after losing to Duke 38-20 last weekend. The Wolfpack are a mess right now, losing their last 5 games after starting the season 3-1. Against Duke, NC State gained 412 total yards but they turned the ball over 4 times. QB Mitchell threw for 148 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. The lone bright spot for the Wolfpack was RB Thornton, who rushed for 103 yards on 26 carries. Mitchell has thrown for 499 yards and only 1 touchdown in three starts for the Wolfpack this year. Thornton has rushed for a team-high 550 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while WR Underwood has caught 32 balls for 382 yards with one touchdown. The Wolfpack rank 98th in points scored, averaging less than 23 points per contest. In the loss to Duke, the Wolfpack allowed only 321 total yards and forced 4 turnovers. The Wolfpack did a good job getting off the field on third down, but committed one too many penalties. The NC State defense is allowing almost 27 points per game, which ranks 66th in the country this season. The Wolfpack will be on the road where they are 0-3 on the year.

The Boston College Eagles improved to 5-4 overall, 2-3 ACC, after beating New Mexico State 48-34 on Saturday. The Eagles have won two straight games after losing four of five during September and October. Against New Mexico State, the Eagles produced 550 total yards with a well balanced attack. QB Rettig completed 17 of 25 passes for 230 yards with 3 touchdowns, while WR Amidon caught 8 balls for 88 yards and a score. RB Andre Williams, who is the leading rusher in the ACC and No. 2 in the FBS in yards per game, finished with 295 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns. Rettig has thrown for 1,463 yards and 14 touchdowns this season for the Eagles. Williams has rushed for over 1,400 yards with 12 touchdowns, while Amidon has caught 57 balls for 726 yards and 4 touchdowns this year. The Eagles offense ranks 78th in points scored, averaging 27 per game. The Eagles allowed 539 total yards in the win on Saturday and forced one turnover. Boston College ranks 76th in points allowed, giving up just over 28 points per game this season. The Eagles will be back at home where they are 4-1 this season.
These two teams have split the last two meetings, with NC State winning at home last year by 17 points. NC State is playing terrible football right now and they have basically thrown in the towel on their season. Meanwhile, Boston College is hoping to earn a spot in a bowl game this year and a win on Saturday would make the bowl eligible. The Wolfpack have struggled against good run teams this season and with Williams running well for the Eagles, NC State could be in for a long day. Boston College plays solid defense at home and against a weak Wolfpack offense, I don’t see the Eagles having any issues coming away with the win. I’ll take the home team to win by double digits.
