The LSU Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies face off on Saturday in Baton Rouge in a SEC college football battle that will surely impact bowl seeding.
The LSU Tigers had a bye last week and they needed it after falling to pieces in the second half of their previous game against Alabama. While LSU isn’t title worthy this year they are still rock solid and loaded with talent. The LSU offense is averaging 37.9 points and 460.4 yards per game. Zach Mettenberger has completed 65.7 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. LSU is deep in the backfield and Jeremy Hill has gained 964 yards and he has rushed for 13 touchdowns and Terrence Magee has rushed for 407 yards and five touchdowns. Jarvis Landry has 63 receptions and Odell Beckham as 51 receptions and they have eight touchdowns each. Defensively LSU allows 23.5 points and 353.7 yards per game. Lamin Barrow has 75 tackles, D.J. Welter has 59 tackles, and Kwon Alexander has 56 tackles. LSU hasn’t lived up to their usual high expectations but they are still a handful for their opponents.

The Texas A&M Aggies have completed the home part of their schedule and finish their season with two road games. Texas A&M doesn’t quite have the total package they had a season ago but they have been more than a handful for their opponents. The Aggies offense is averaging 49.2 points and 578 yards per game. Johnny Manziel has once again been Heisman worthy completing 73 percent of his passes with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and e has rushed for 611 yards and eight touchdowns. Ben Malena has handled the Texas A&M ground game rushing for 476 yards and nine touchdowns. Mike Evans is Manziel’s favorite receiver and has 57 receptions and 12 touchdowns and Malcome Kennedy has 55 catches and seven touchdowns. The Texas A&M defense has been the weaker unit and they are allowing 30.9 points and 454.4 yards per game. Howard Matthews has 73 tackles and three interceptions and Steven Jenkins and Darian Claiborne each have 69 tackles. Texas A&M realizes Manziel’s days there may be numbered.
LSU is 2-5-1 against the spread in their last seven SEC games, 1-3-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 4-1 against the spread following a bye week. Texas A&M is 7-15 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 1-4 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 0-6 against the spread following a bye week.
This should be a high scoring game, the type of game where the last team with the ball wins so getting more than a field goal with Johnny Football seems like a nice place to be.
