The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels face off on Thanksgiving night in the 2013 version of the Egg Bowl.
For Mississippi State the formula is simple: win this game and they become bowl eligible, lose and they go home. Last Saturday Mississippi State beat Arkansas in overtime to set up the scenario of this game. The MSU offense is averaging 27.2 points and 438 yards per game. Dak Prescott is questionable for this one and if he can’t go it will probably be what we saw last week and that was Tyler Russell with Damian Williams playing some QB as well. Prescott is Mississippi State’s leading rusher but next is LaDarius Perkins who averages 4.4 yards per carry and then Josh Robinson who averages 5.5 yards per carry. Jameon Lewis has 49 catches and five touchdowns and Robert Johnson has 31 catches. Defensively Mississippi State is allowing 25.6 points and 370.7 yards per game. Bernardrick McKinney has 61 tackles and 2.5 sacks, Deonte Skinner has 53 tackles, and Nickoe Whitley has four interceptions. It has overall been a disappointing season for Mississippi State.

The Ole Miss Rebels are having a solid season but they are coming off of a loss to Missouri that reminded them that they have some work to do if they hope to make it to the next level. The loss ended a four game winning streak for the Rebels. The Ole Miss offense is averaging 32.3 points and 487.1 yards per game. Bo Wallace has completed 64.4 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions and he has rushed for four touchdowns. Jaylen Walton is averaging 5.0 yards per carry with six touchdowns as Jeff Scott has seen his role decrease and Ian mathers is coming off of a 66 yard effort last week. Lavonte Treadwell has 58 catches and five touchdowns and Donte Moncrief has 50 catches and five touchdowns. The Ole Miss defense allows 24.9 points and 383.8 yards per game. Cody Prewitt has 66 tackles and five interceptions, Trae Elston has 56 tackles, and Tony Conner has 55 tackles. With the SEC bowl tie ins Ole Miss has a lot at stake as far as the pecking order goes.
Mississippi State is 4-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, 1-5 against the spread following a win, and 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record. Ole Miss is 4-1 against the spread following a loss, 5-2 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 7-3 against the spread following a double-digit home loss. The home team has covered the spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
The total for this one is set at 54 and I have this one well under that number so my free pick is on the under. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as have it available on the App.
