The Florida Atlantic Owls host instate rival the Florida International Golden Panthers.

Florida International is a few short years removed from a Bowl as the team attempts to rebuild and improve on a one win season. The Golden Panthers have struggled on both sides of the ball and in my view probably have more issues offensively at 227 yards and ten points per contest. Those numbers did not improve in a 48-10 home loss to Marshall as a 33 point underdog. FIU led 3-0 after one quarter but it was all down from there with the Thundering Herd rolling up 558 yards. The Golden Panthers countered with 262 yards Lamarq Caldwell (17-56) and Silas Spearman (8-40) accounting for the rushing attack. EJ Hilliard struggled for consistency under constant pressure, going 15-29 for 167 yards with a pick.

Florida Atlantic has been an afterthought for the last several years and appeared to be headed in that direction once again before going on a three game winning streak. The Owls can finish 6-6 with a win in week 14 and become Bowl eligible which is a nice turnaround for a team that was once 2-6. Defense has been the key for FAU but the offense lent a helping hand in a 55-10 decision over visiting New Mexico State. The home team was still tough on defense with 278 yards allowed but the often challenged attack totaled 585 yards with the ability to run and throw. The ground game produce 256 yards with three players adding beween 50-80 yards with Jaquez Johnson leading the way with 79 yards on eleven totes. Johnson got it done with his arm as well, completing 15-22 for 321 yards and three touchdowns and a pick.

This is a lot of points to lay in a rivalry game but Florida Atlantic needs this one and they have been rolling in all areas. If that continues the Owls will cover...
