The LSU Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks face off on Friday in their college football battle for the Golden Boot.
The LSU Tigers haven’t had the season that they are accustomed to having but they are still a very good football team and headed towards one of the better bowl games. LSU is coming off of a dominating performance knocking off Texas A&M. The LSU offense is averaging 37.5 points and 465.5 points per game. Zach Mettnberger has completed 65 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Jeremy Hill is averaging 6.7 yards per carry with 13 touchdowns, Terrance Magee is averaging 7.7 yards with six touchdowns, and Kenny Hilliard is averaging 4.6 yards per carry and seven touchdowns. Jarvis Landry has 67 catches and 10 touchdowns and Odell Beckham has 56 catches and eight touchdowns. Defensively LSU is allowing 22.3 points and 348.7 yards per game. Lamin Barrow has 80 tackles, D.J. Welter has 46 tackles, and Kwon Alexander has 57 tackles. LSU is coming off of their best game of the season stomping Texas A&M.

The Arkansas Razorbacks have lost eight games in a row and Head Coach Brett Bielema is still looking for his first SEC win. Arkansas was coming off of a tough season but this year they have gone from bad to worse. Arkansas is averaging 20.1 points and 356.9 yards per game. Brandon Allen has completed 47.6 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Alex Collins has rushed for 998 yards and four touchdowns and Jonathan Williams has rushed for 842 yards and four touchdowns. Javontee Herndon has 29 catches and four touchdowns and Hunter Henry has 23 catches and two touchdowns. Defensively Arkansas allows 30.7 points and 408.3 yards per game. Alan Turner has 86 tackles, Braylon Mitchell has 70 tackles, and Chris Smith has 8.5 sacks. Winning the Golden Boot would give Arkansas something to build off of for the off-season.
LSU is 4-10-1 against the spread in their last 15 home games against a team with a losing road record, 1-4-1 against the spread following a win, and 0-6 against the spread after allowing less than 20 points their previous game. Arkansas is 4-11 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread, 3-13 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six games. The home team has covered the point spread in four of the last meetings of these two.
Normally in a rivalry game a point spread like this one is just out of the question but Arkansas is bad enough this season that I am going to lay the points with LSU.
