The Massachusetts Minutemen travel to Peden Stadium for a season ending bout with the Ohio Bobcats.
Massachusetts has just a single win on the year which wasn't completely unexpected in a top heavy MAC where victories can be at a premium for a club in their second season of DIV I football. The Minutemen need more offensive punch which was an issue a year ago but these things do tend to take time. UMass didn't make the numbers any better in a 37-0 defeat at the hands of Central Michigan with the offense struggling to move the chains while combining with four turnovers. The attack produced 173 yards with most coming on the ground behind Shadrach Abrokwah's respectable 20 carry, 93 yard performance. AJ Doyle couldn't get the air game going with only 45 yards and three interceptions telling the story which put the defense in bad spots making 298 yards allowed too much.

I have been an Ohio fan for a long time and like Solich who has done a great job in the past but the past three defeats have me wondering what happened to this team. The Bobcats have been completely out classed in dropping three straight in which they have been outscored 123-16 and yet a Bowl is still within their grasp. A 44-13 rout to visiting Kent State was the latest melt down and not unexpected by me and the numbers were ugly with the Golden Flashes leading in yardage 537-204 with running and passing ability. Beau Blankenship was the rushing attack with 76 yards on 23 carries which put the focus of moving the ball through the air. That didn't happen with Tyler Tettleton completing 11-24 for 132 yards with a touchdown and interception.
I simply don't like the way the Bobcats have played and I'm not afraid to say the team looks like they have given up. I would challenge Tettleton and the offense to show some pride here but the bottom line is will they cover and can we bet on them and I can't say yes...
