The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks take on the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at Cajun Field.
Louisiana-Monroe seemed like a sure fire bet to go Bowling a few short weeks ago when they checked in with a 5-4 record while riding a three game winning streak. That was then and this is now with the Warhawks dropping back to back contests to Arkansas State and South Alabama by a combined 78-28. A 36-14 loss to the Jaguars in week 13 has ULM needing a win at Louisiana-Lafayette to become Bowl eligible. USA had advantages in most areas with 424 yards and were able to mix in the run and pass well while the Warhawks offense was held to 274 yards. With less then 75 yards rushing the Warhawks turned to Kolton Browning to move the ball through the air which seemed like a good idea. Browning completed 18-26 for 196 yards and a TD but wasn't able to stretch the field.

Louisiana-Lafayette dropped the first two games of 2013 before rattling off eight straight victories behind a high powered offense that is averaging 38 points. Despite all the good times I think the Ragin' Cajuns have pulled back on the throttle many times which makes games look more competitive then they really are. ULL is coming off of a 35-21 decision at Georgia State where both teams finished with 481 yards with the visitors putting their's to better use. Elijah McGuire ran eleven times for 107 yards with Alonzo Harris and Terrance Broadway combining for 144 yards on 33 tries to give the rushing attack three threats. Broadway was productive in limited attempts in the air with a 10-16 performance for 234 yards and four touchdowns with McGuire adding 125 yards on just three catches.
I see a two touchdown spread and I have two thoughts; the Warhawks are struggling and are risky and the Ragin' Cajuns seem to shut it down late and will let in a back door. Not an easy one and seems there are better places to look...
