The Maryland Terps travel down to North Carolina State to play the Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon.
Maryland dropped to 6-5 overall, 2-5 ACC, after losing at home against Boston College 29-26 last weekend. Maryland has now lost 4 out of their last 5 games and they have been plagued by injuries once again this season. The Terps gained 278 total yards on offense, with 100 coming on the ground. QB C.J. Brown ran for 22 yards, and completed 19 of 31 passes for 178 yards with one touchdown. RB Ross added 44 yards on the ground on 11 carries, while WR Etta-Tawo had 4 catches for 57 yards in the win. The Maryland defense was able to force 3 turnovers, but they allowed 374 total yards on defense. Maryland could not find an answer for Boston College’s RB Williams, who rushed for 263 yards on the Terps. On the year, Maryland ranks 87th in points scored, 25.4 per game, and 53rd in points allowed, giving up 25.2 a game. Brown has thrown for over 1,700 yards and 9 touchdowns, while rushing for another 400 yards and 9 touchdowns. Ross has rushed for 629 yards and 4 touchdowns. Maryland will try to end a disappointing regular season with a win on the road; the Terps are 2-2 on the road this season.

The NC State Wolfpack dropped to 3-8 overall, 0-7 ACC, after losing at home against East Carolina 42-28 last weekend. The Wolfpack have now lost 7 games in a row and 8 out of their last 9 games overall this season. Against ECU, the Wolfpack produced 441 yards of total offense, with 312 coming thru the air. QB Mitchell completed 28 of 44 passes for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns. WR Smith caught a team-high 7 balls for 104 yards and a touchdown, while WR Payton chipped in with4 catches for 91 yards. RB Thornton carried the ball 20 times for only 66 yards. The Wolfpack defense allowed 445 yards to the Pirates and could not get off the field on 3rd down. NC State ranks 97th in points scored, 23 per game, and 80th in points allowed, 29.2 per game. Mitchell has thrown for 811 yards and 5 touchdowns in the limited time he has played recently, while Smith leads the team with 43 catches for 463 yards and 2 touchdowns. Thornton has rushed for over 670 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Wolfpack this year. NC State would like to end their year on a positive note at home this weekend; the Wolfpack are 3-4 at home this season.
NC State has won three out of the last four meetings, including a 2 point win at Maryland last year. The Wolfpack are a complete mess right now on both sides of the ball. Maryland isn’t playing great football either and despite all of their injuries they still have more talent and depth than NC State. I think Maryland will be able to slow down an average at best Wolfpack offense, and will be able to score some points on the road against their weak defense. The Terps win by at least a field goal in this one.
