The Tulane Green Wave head to Rice Stadium where the Rice Owls await in week 14.
Tulane appeared to be a sure thing for the postseason with four consecutive victories under their belt before the offense disappeared in back to back defeats which put a lot more emphasis on their bout with Texas El Paso. The Miners proved to be the cure for what ailed Tulane who won 45-3. Any doubt was erased by the half where the lead was 38-3 with the offense coming to life with 482 yards to give the defensive side of the football some rare breathing room. The rushing attack piled up 277 yards and averaged nearly 6 1/2 yards per touch with Orleans Darkwa leading the way with 147 yards on 17 totes and a TD. Josh Rounds added another 76 yards and Nick Montana enjoyed a nifty 171 yards in the air with three touchdowns in an offense that has to run the ball to win.

Rice is motoring their way towards the CUSA West crown with wins in seven of eight following a 37-34 overtime win at Alabama-Birmingham as an 18 point favorite. This seemed like a rout in the making with the Owls leading 17-7 at the half before the Blazers tied it with 37 ticks remaining in one of their best performances of the year. The numbers favored the visitors who led in yardage 467-333 with a very heavy emphasis on running the ball. The Owls totaled 328 yards on the ground with Jowan Davis running for 130 yards followed by Taylor McHargue and his 92 and Charles Ross with 50. McHargue completed 10-19 for 139 yards with a pair of touchdowns which is great production for this run first attack.
I like both teams although Tulane can be a bit ugly at times and make things close. I think Rice will be too much for the Green Wave to handle but laying nearly two scores is too much for me...
