The USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins face off on Saturday for their final game of the 2013 season and for the Victory Bell.
The USC Trojans have had a nice bounce back season after losing early they have won their last five games in a row. After the firing of then Head Coach Lane Kiffin the Trojans have lost just once and even that game was a heart breaker most thought they could have won. Cody Kessler has completed 65 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. Tre Madden has rushed for 688 yards but lately it has been Javorius Allen who is averaging 6.5 yards per carry and has 11 touchdowns. Nelson Agholor has 47 receptions and five touchdowns and Marqise Lee has 44 catches but is considered to be one of the best receivers in the nation. Defensively Hayes Pullard hs 75 tackles, Leonard Williams has 66 tackles including six sacks, and Devon Kennard has eight sacks. Offensively USC averages 29.8 points and 398.8 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 20.2 points and 337 yards per game. While most don’t feel Ed Orgeron will remain on as the Head Coach with a win here he would certainly deserve it.

The UCLA Bruins fought hard on Saturday trying to come back from a big deficit against Arizona State but their inability to get into the endzone from inside the 10-yard line and a missed field goal ended their chances of making it to the Pac-12 Championship Game. Brett Hundley has completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions and he has rushed for 507 yards and seven touchdowns. Paul Perkins has rushed for 536 yards and four touchdowns and Myles Jack has rushed for six touchdowns. Shaquell Evans has 42 catches and eight touchdowns and Devin Fuller has 40 receptions and four touchdowns. Eric Kendricks has 95 tackles to lead UCLA while Anthony Jefferson has 77 tackles and Anthony Bar has eight sacks. The UCLA offense is averaging 36.6 points and 452.9 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 25 points and 399.9 yards per game. UCLA will need to put last week behind them as aside from the rivalry part of this game it should have an impact as to what bowl the Bruins wind up in.
USC is 5-1 against the spread in their last six Pac-12 games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, and 4-11 against the spread following a win. UCLA is 8-3 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record, and 1-4 against the spread following a loss. The home team has covered the spread in eight of the last 10 meetings of these two.
While it looks attractive getting the hook here at 3.5 the thing is about this series is it hasn’t been known for close games recently. While these two are both better than they have been in recent years USC is the better team and at home I see the pass rush being too much for UCLA to handle.
