The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers play host to the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the final game of the regular season.
Arkansas State has gotten hot at just the right time with four consecutive victories to go 7-4 heading in to their finale. It hasn't been all peaches and creme with a one point victory at South Alabama an a two point decision over Georgia State in week 13. This was an odd one with the Panthers out gaining the home team 432-290 soon first glance one could say the defense didn't play well but they recovered four fumbles and returned one for six while the punt return team bloked a kick and recovered it for another score. The rushing attack never got going with 138 yards on 45 carries with Adam Kennedy totaling 77 yards on 20 touches being the highlight. Kennedy did have a short passing game going with 152 yards and a pair of TD's on a 14-19 effort.

Western Kentucky owns one the more balanced offenses in the Sun Belt with top 30 passing and rushing attacks. The defense has allowed 24 points so this is an all around solid team except for turnovers where they have been down right pitiful at times. They didn't give the ball away against Texas State but recovered a fumble and picked off four passes in 38-7 road victory. Brandon Doughty has been a turnover machine at times under center but instead managed the game well, completing 20-32 for 152 yards and no mistakes. A fantastic ground game did most of the work with Antonio Andrews exploding for 204 yards on 21 carries with three trips to the end zone with WKU totaling over 300 yards and averaging seven yards per attempt. The turnovers made life easy for the Hilltoppers D who were touched for a mere 130 yards.
For me everything depends on whether Western Kentucky protects the ball because it's been brutal in the turnover department. Assuming the Hilltoppers aren't in a giving mood I believe this is a dangerous spot for the Red Wolves but not sure I can lay a touchdown...
