The Washington State Cougars and Colorado State Rams travel to Albuquerque for the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.
Washington State wasn't exactly clicking on all cylinders to end the regular season as they dropped four of six including a ten point loss to Washington in the Apple Cup in the season finale'. The Cougars were guilty of not getting their offense and defense on the same page often enough as their 6-6 record attests. The defense gave up 447 yards and 31 points and didn't stand out in any one area which forced the offense to move the chains and score the football which they were quite capable of doing. The overall offensive numbers were middle of the row with 423 yards and around 30 points which was not bad with their one dimensional passing game carrying the load. The Cougars were dead last on the ground at 59 yards but wer the #4 passing attack at 365 yards. Connor Halliday could sling the ball with the best of them with nearly 4,200 yards but his 27 TD's and 21 picks says he made too many mistakes.

By all accounts Colorado State has had a successful season with a winning record and a Bowl invite that wasn't secured until the Rams closed the regular season on a 3-1 run. The strength of this team was moving the football but the defense was competitive with 417 yards and under 29 points allowed with the #49 run D givinng up 150 yards. The attack produced 461 yards and 35 points and were completely balanced with equal ability to run and throw. Garrett Grayson was solid under center with over 3,300 yards with 21 touchdowns versus ten interceptions with Rashard Higgins (64-795), Joe Hansley (49-558) and Crockett Gilmore (43-553) the three top targets. The rushing attack was Kapri Biggs who amassed 1,572 yards on 251 touches with 28 touchdowns as the Rams could do plenty of damage in a variety of ways.
I am thinking there will be plenty of points scored here but right now I'm looking at the Cougars passing against the Rams secondary as being the key but I have some time to dwell on this...
