Aloha Stadium hosts the Hawaii Bowl match up between the Boise State Broncos and the Oregon State Beavers.
It hasn't been a typical year for Boise State as their 8-4 record eliminated them from the National Championship picture and now head coach Chris Petersen has jumped ship for Washington leaving Bob Gregory as the interim coach. The Broncos are still a formiddable squad that has out scored opponents 39-24 but the defense is allowing 410 yards and hasn't been nearly as suffocating as previous units. The team has endure some adversity on the field as well when quarterback Joe Southwick (152-208/1654) broke his ankle and forced Grant Hedrick in to action. Hedrick hasn't been a bad option with 1,443 yards with 15 touchdowns and five picks on 68% completions. The reciving corp was led by the duo of Matt Miller and Shane Williams-Rhodes who caught 77 passes each for a combined 1,636 yards. Jay Ajayi was the work horse on the ground with 1,328 yards on 226 totes and 17 scores.

You can divide the Oregon State season in half and it was like comparinng night and day. The Beavers kicked off the year by going 6-1 before dropping five straight to end the season including a one point loss to rival Oregon in the finale'. The Beavers defense gave up 428 yards and 32 points and were ranked in the bottom third in many categories which meant relying on the offensive side of the ball to get things done but that didn't happen often enough. Even though OSU averaged nearly 35 points on the year they scored 27 or less in for of their last five. Sean Mannion and the nation's third ranked passing attack was generally the catalyst for anything good the offense did. Mannion completed 66% of his passes for over 4,400 yards with 36 touchdowns and 14 picks with Brandin Cooks (120-1670) and Richard Mullaney (49-736) the top targets. Terron Ward was the most productive runner with 467 yards on 104 tries but the ground game wasn't a specialty.
This has obviously not been business as usual for Boise State and with Petersen leaving it's just an odd year. I am going with Oregon State because of the turmoil with the Broncos but I haven't been great on Beavers games...
