Yankee Stadium will host the New Era Pinstripe Bowl between the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Rutgers began 2013 at 4-1 and appeared to be a threat in the AAC but that wasn't to be with the Scarlet Knights going 2-5 the rest of the way with a season ending win over South Florida making them Bowl eligible. Neither side of the ball stood out with the defense allowing 406 yards and almost 30 points with the #4 run D giving up less then 95 yards combining with a pass defense that was almost at the bottom of the college ranks with 310 yards given up. The offense was plain vanilla at 376 yards and 27 points with 28 points or less scored eight times. Gary Nova garnered most of the playing time with 2,159 yards but he was only a 54% passer and his 18TD's-14 INT ratio was poor. Chas Dodd completed 60% of his throws for 712 yards and engineered the win in the finale'. Tyler Croft paced the receiving corps with 530 yards on 40 catches with three others combining for over 1,300 yards on 91 balls. Paul James (146-833) and Justin Goodwin (100-518) were the face of the rushing attack that wasn't used a lot.

Notre Dame played their typical strong schedule with many familiar faces with one score losses in two of three to end the regular season. The Fighting Irish were a defense first squad that allowed 377 yards and only 23 points with just 202 yards allowed through the air. The Irish attack wasn't explosive in any one area with more reliance on their passing. Tommy Rees threw for 2,938 yards which was quite a bit for completing only 53.7% of his passes for 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. TJ Jones was the go to receiver with 1,042 yards on 65 receptions followed by DaVaris Daniels adding another 720 yards on 46 catches with the pair combining for 16 scores. Notre Dame wasn't known for their rushing attack with Cam McDaniel grinding it out for 620 yards on 135 totes with George Atkinson III totaling 555 yards on 93 carries.
In the scope of things I don't like this game at all. Rutgers is awful but perhaps the points even things up but then again who knows about these guys...
