The Line: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +3 -- Over/Under: 56 See the Latest Odds

The Mississippi Rebels and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to LP Field to clash in the Music City Bowl.

Mississippi was somewhat streaky with a few wins and a few losses and at the end of the regular season the winning streaks were a tad longer then the skids. The Rebels were not the strongest SEC squad but overall this was a team that had potential on both sides of the ball. The defense was competitive with 376 yards and 24 points given up and were equally tough against both the run and pass while the offense could do a bit of everything as well. Ole Miss averaged 473 yards and 30 points with the #24 passing attack doing most of the heavy lifting. Bo Wallace was as good as anybody when it came to putting the ball in the air by connecting on 64% for 3,090 yards with 17 TD's and nine INT's. Donte Moncrief led the receiving corps with 825 yards with the duo of Ja-Mes Logan and Laquon Treadwell combining for 1,040 yards. The ground game was a three pronged attack with I'Tavius Mathers, Jeff Scott and Jalen Walton combining for over 1,400 yards.

I would say Georgia Tech did just enough damage with their option to get in to the postseason and a pair of victories over sub division squads didn't hurt. The numbers on both side were impressive overall with the Yellow Jackets outscoring the opposition 37-23. The defense allowed just 350 yards with 107 coming on the ground while the option produced 312 rushing yards. Vad Lee struggled to hook up with his receivers with a 47% completion rate with 1,414 yards with ten touchdowns and nine interceptions. Robert Godhigh and DeAndre Smelter each caught 21 balls for a combined 765 yards but the ground was where this offense prospered. David Sims paced the run with 846 yards with Godhigh adding nearly 700 while Lee and Zach Laskey combined for another 900+ yards as there was zero shortage of rushing production.

I think the extra time off favors Mississippi who faces a tough task in the option although Georgia Tech won't have an easy time of it versus the Rebels attack. Right now it's Ole Miss and the over but check back on game day...
