2014 College Football Preview
The 2014 Troy Trojans are looking for a return to the elite in the Sun Belt.
Overview: Veteran head coach Larry Blakeney needs to find a quarterback to run a talented offense while hoping the defense figures out a way to keep opponents off the scoreboard.

Offense: Four year starter Corey Robinson is gone with almost 14,000 passing yards and was somebody that could throw when the defense knew he was throwing. The trio 6-7 Dallas Tidwell along with JUCO prospects Connor Bravard and Dontreal Pruitt all have the ability to put the ball in the air which is what Troy does best. Second leading receiver Bryan Holmes (40-676) slides in to the top role while Chandler Worthy (25-403) becomes option two. Whoever is under center will have experience in the backfield with Brandon Burks and Jordan Chunn combining for nearly 1,200 yards on 262 totes while All SBC RT Terrence Jones is back with two other starters.
Defense: If you follow Troy you know no lead was safe and opposing attacks were one play away from the endzone. The Trojans defensive line returns Tyler Roberts and Lonnie Gosha with several JC players thrown in to the mix with the hope of finding a dependable rotation. If experience counts for anything the linebacking spot should be solid with the top five back. The secondary loses both safety's but returns their top four corners although the way the Trojans were gouged on big plays says the players that are gone won't be missed and the guys back better improve.
Special Teams: The Trojans need a punter and placekicker to step forward as well as a kick returner although Holmes averaged over 20 yards on five PR. In any case the team needs to fill several spots with the backups from a year ago likely getting the positions.
Outlook: If the Trojans find a quarterback which isn't out of the realm of possibility and the defense improves (which might be out of that realm) then Troy has a chance at a winning record and a Bowl invite. After watching this team through the years I believe it's up to the defense to hold their own or this will be another season of hope.
