The Arizona Wildcats welcome the UNLV Rebels to Arizona Stadium to kick off the 2014 season.
Much of UNLV's success could be determined by what quarterback Nick Sherry does (or doesn't do) under center in 2014. Last season he was unproductive early and was replaced by Caleb Herring but the latter is gone. The Rebels lose RB Tim Cornett so the rushing attack falls on the shoulders of Shaquille Murray-Lawrence and Keith Whitely with Sherry not a running threat. UNLV gets their top receiver back in Devante Davis while the offensive line has as much experience as any unit in the country. The front seven of the defense needs to fill some holes to help out a deep secondary.

Arizona comes in to 2014 with the expectations of challenging in the PAC 12 and appearing in another Bowl. If so they will have to do it without dual threat quarterback BJ Denker who was very good in all phases. Anu Soloman or USC transfer Jesse Scoggins will be under center and they will have Austin Hill and Nate Phillips to throw to with plenty of talent in this group especially if Hill returns to his 2012 form after missing last year with knee surgery. The Wildcats rushing attack lost over 3,000 yards to graduation leaving unproven Zach Green and Jared Baker to shoulder the load. The offensive line returns all but one so the run heavy Wildcats are looking to come close to Ka'Deem Carey's nearly 1,900 rushing yards. The defense needs help in the front seven with the secondary the strength of this unit.
This looks like it could go either way so I'm not willing to put money on teams that I need to see play a few games to get a handle on...
