The Colorado State Rams visit the blue turf of the Boise State Broncos in the Mountain West opener for both teams.
A huge 4th quarter scoring burst carried the Mississippi Rebels past the Boise State Broncos 35-13 in week one. The Broncos trailed 7-6 entering the final 15 minutes but could not eliminate mistakes or get a defensive stop on Ole Miss and were outscored 28-7. When the smoke had cleared Boise had amassed nearly 400 yards and dominated TOP with over 36 minutes but Grant Hedrick threw four killer interceptions that negated his 264 passing yards. Jay Ajayi gave the Broncos some semblance of a rushing attack with 86 yards on 20 carries but the Rebels simply wouldn't be denied late. Mississippi finished with 461 yards with Bo Wallace throwing three picks but he burned the Broncos with three touchdowns in the decisive 4th.

The Colorado State Rams opened 2014 with a convincing 31-17 victory over instate rival the Colorado Buffaloes. A 24-7 second half scoring burst carried the day as the defense smothered Colorado over the final 30 minutes. Garrett Grayson was quietly efficient with 134 yards and a touchdown and no turnovers but it was the running attack that did most of the damage for the Rams. Dee Hart led the way with 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Treyous Jarrells adding another 121 yards and a score to give Colorado State plenty of punch on the ground. CSU averaged nearly six yards per carry while Jared Roberts connected on a 52 yard field goal as the Rams received contributions from everywhere.
Boise State looked fantastic for three quarters versus Mississippi but fell off the map over the final 15 minutes while Colorado State looked as good as the 2013 version in their opener. The Broncos hopefully bounce back in a match up that has been favorable in the past...
