The Hawaii Warriors host the Oregon State Beavers in late Saturday night college football action.
The Oregon State Beavers rode a strong second half to push past the Portland State Vikings 29-14 to open 2014 on a positive note. The numbers say this shouldn't have close with the Beavers outgaining the Vikings 504-214 while recovering three fumbles and picking off a pair of passes. The OSU offense was pass heavy with Sean Mannion throwing for 328 yards with five players catching 23 passes for 292 yards. When the Beavers went to the run Storm Woods was the go to guy with 125 yards while also catching a 23 yard pass for a touchdown. Oregon State also held a healthy 39+ minute edge in time of possession.

The Hawaii Warriors weren't given much of a chance at beating the Washington Huskies but nearly did the unthinkable in a 17-16 home loss in week one. The Warriors won the battle for yardage 424-336 and won the boxscore in most areas except the scoreboard. UH has gained the reputation as a team that likes to fill the air with footballs but instead preferred to grind things out on the ground behind Joey Iosefa's 30 carry, 143 yard effort that included a one yard touchdown run. Ikaika Woosley completed 23-42 for 207 yards with Quinton Pedroza pacing the Hawaii receiving corps with 90 yards on nine catches. The defense was burned for a 91 yard scoring pass but for the most part dominated Washington.
Either Hawaii was overlooked or better then advertised versus Washington is open for debate but the wrong team won. I would think that outcome has caught the eye of Oregon State and they come prepared...
