The South Alabama Jaguars pay a visit to the Kent State Golden Flashes in Saturday action.
The South Alabama Jaguars enter their second season as a FBS program after a 6-6 mark in 2013. USA loses dual threat quarterback Ross Methany with senior Brandon Bridge set to take over after throwing for 398 yards and running for 170 yards last year. The Jaguars return a strong trio of receivers in Shavarez Smith, Wes Saxton and Jereme Jones who combined for 140 receptions and over 2,000 yards. The South Alabama ground game will lean on Jay Jones who hopefully breaks the 1,000 yard barrier with four offensive linemen back. The defense needs to fill voids in the front seven to retain their rating as the top defense in the Sun Belt.

The Kent State Golden Flashes struggled to get their offense going in a 17-14 loss to the visiting Ohio Bobcats in their opener. The defense gave up 457 yards but recovered four fumbles and held the Bobcats off the scoreboard. Moving the chains was a difficult task however with only 295 yards to hang their hats on. Colin Reardon gave the Golden Flashes an effective passing attack with 264 yards and a pair of touchdowns but there was virtually no room to run in the ground game. Chris Humphrey paced the receiving corps with 91 yards on six catches with a score while Ernest Calhoun grabbed a game high eleven balls for 62 yards.
This seems like a good opportunity for Kent State to crank up their run game with South Alabama losing alot of their front seven. Having said that I think the Jaguars are a solid team and get a road win here...
