The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns didn't face the toughest competition in the season opener. However, they played like the far better team from the opening kickoff to the final gun in a 45-6 rout of the Southern Jaguars. The Ragin Cajuns defense made life easy for their offense with 279 yards allowed although it wasn't needed with ULL piling up 512 yards. Terrance Broadway gave the Ragin' Cajuns 237 passing yards with three touchdowns and a pair of picks with Jamal Robinson hauling in five throws for 112 yards and two scores. Elijah McGuire was the bulk of the ULL ground game with 129 yards on 13 carries with a trip to the endzone.
This an interesting match up that Louisiana Tech won a year ago and one where UL Lafayette can't afford to lose this time around. I lean to ULL but need to dig in to this so check back later in the week...
