The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and Minnesota Golden Gophers meet Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders crushed the Savannah State Tigers, 61-7. With guys such as Reggie Whatley and Tony Rowland leading the way, the Blue Raiders averaged five yards per carry and rushed for six touchdowns in the lopsided victory. Quarterback Austin Grammer did a great job of managing the game, completing 15 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown. Middle Tennessee scored 34 points in the first half, pretty much putting the game on ice before it even started. Defensively, the Blue Raiders allowed just 84 passing yards and produced three turnovers. T.T. Barber led the way with two tackles for loss, while Trey Wafford returned a fumble for a touchdown.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers beat up the Eastern Illinois Panthers, 42-20 in the week 1 win. Running back Berkley Edwards and quarterback Mitch Leidner did much of the heavy lifting in the win, rushing for two touchdowns apiece. The Golden Gophers focused mainly on their ground game, completing just 10 passes and running the ball 40 times. While it was good enough to win this cupcake game, Minnesota must become a little more balanced offensively in order to make any major noise in the Big Ten. Leidner has yet to prove he can make enough plays with his arm for the Golden Gophers to win. Defensively, Minnesota allowed 409 yards, including 310 yards through the air. Antonio Johnson came away with his second interception of his career.
The Blue Raiders are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games. The Golden Gophers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games.
The chalk in this game is a little too steep for my taste, but there's no denying that the Golden Gophers are the better team. Give me Minny at home.
