The North Carolina State Wolfpack welcome the Old Dominion Monarchs to Carter Finley Stadium.
The Old Dominion Monarchs opened their second season in the FBS with a 41-28 victory over the Hampton Pirates. After watching Old Dominion a year ago it was their abiity to score points that makes them a threat and it seems not much has changed. The Monarchs were able to run and throw their way to 461 yards with just enough D to hang on. ODU forced four turnovers to show flashes of ability but the offense still stole the show. Taylor Heinke threw for 281 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of picks with Zach Pascal and Antonio Vaughan giving the ODU receiving corps plenty of punch with 13 catches for 178 yards and three scores. The Monarchs ground game was Gerard Johnson with 137 yards including a 31 yard scoring jaunt.

North Carolina State rallied past Georgia Southern 24-23 wiith a touch down scored with 1:37 remaining. The Wolfpack were 21 point favorites but the yardage was almost dead even with the Eagles doing more damage on the ground while NC State leaned on the pass. Jacoby Brissett gave the Wolfpack 281 yards with three TD's and an interception with Bo Hines snagging nine balls for 85 yards. Shadrach Thornton led the NC State rushing attack with a ten carry, 73 yard performance but yardage on the ground was not easy to come by otherwise. The defense struggled to stop the Georgia Southern run which totaled 246 yards at over five yards per pop.
North Carolina State should be able to find the endzone here plenty of times to win but I'm not sure of the cover because the Monarchs are a dangerous offense so I'll back the over...
