Philadelphia and the Temple Owls welcome the Navy Midshipmen in a week two bout.
The Temple Owls put on a dazzling display of defense in a 37-7 road victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores in the season opener for both schools. The Commodores were held to 278 yards and lost four fumbles with three interceptions with Averee Robinson returning a fumble 55 yards to paydirt. The Owls totaled 351 yards with PJ Walker throwing for 207 yards with first half scoring tosses of 18 yards and 35 yards that led the way to a 21-7 bulge at the half. Jamie Gilmore paced the rushing attack with 65 yards but Temple didn't dominate offensively but did take advantage of field position provided by an opportunistic defense. The Owls lost a pair of fumbles with one ending up in their own endzone for Vanderbilt's lone touchdown.

The Navy Midshipmen had high hopes of pulling the upset versus the Ohio State Buckeyes but those hopes were dashed in a 34-17 loss on opening day. The Middies were not outclassed on the fiel with the Buckeyes outgaining them 420-390 but a few plays were killers. Ryan Williams-Jenkins paced the ground game with 118 yards on seven carries while ten others contributed to a productive option attack that amassed 370 yards and averaged nearly six yards per touch. The key was Ohio State controlled Middies quarterback Keenan Reynolds who needed 23 carries to gain 42 yards. A 61 yard fumble return by OSU and an 80 yard pass for another score were two plays that turned this game in the favor of the Buckeyes.
Navy was projected to approach double figures in wins but a loss at Temple and I have to reevaluate this team. The Owls are coming off a huge win against Vanderbilt and I'm thinking a letdown might be on the menu...
