The Duke Blue Devils play the Troy Trojans on Saturday night.
The Duke Blue Devils destroyed the Elon Phoenix 52-13 last weekend in their season opener. The Blue Devils produced 567 total yards while holding Elon to only 328. QB Anthony Boone completed 22 of 33 passes for 247 yards and 4 touchdowns. WR Jamison Crowder caught 7 passes for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Josh Snead rushed for 74 yards on 12 carries for the Blue Devils. The 2013 season was historic for Duke football as the team broke school records left and right and by the end of the season the stadium was packed with Cameron Crazies. Head coach David Cutcliffe and company finished the regular season 10-2, clinching a berth in the ACC Championship game by winning the ACC Coastal Division. Balance is a key aspect of Duke's high-powered offense that puts up points at a tremendous rate. The Blue Devils scored 28 points or more in 10 of their 14 games in 2013, which was a reflection of how they effectively threw and ran the football. The leaders of the Duke offense consists of Boone, All-ACC WR Crowder, the running back tandem in Snead and Shaquille Powell, WR Max McCaffrey, and TE Braxton Deaver. In 2013, the Blue Devils defense gave up 418 yards and 26.6 points per game. The Duke defense is only returning five starters, however; the defensive backfield is returning three out of the five starters.

The Troy Trojans lost to the UAB Blazers 48-10 in their season opener last weekend. Troy only gained 272 total yards, while UAB produced 490 total yards. QB Brandon Silvers completed 17 of 24 passes, while WR Chandler Worthy caught 2 balls for 46 yards. RB Brandon Burks carried the ball 8 times for 42 yards. In 2013, the Trojans had only 7 starters return form 2012. The defense dropped off a bit, but the offense averaged 34.1 points and 463 yards per game. Six starters return on offense from last season. RB Burks moved from linebacker to running back prior to the 2013 season and ended up starting the final 11 games last year. He finished with 675 yards and two touchdowns. Three of the top five receivers from 2013 return as well. Defensively, the strength of the defense lies with the linebackers. All three starters return from a year ago, which will definitely help the front four. Leading the way is LB Mark Wilson. He started 11 games in 2013, recording 58 tackles, and 1 sack. Troy will need another year of rebuilding before the Trojans can make any noise in their conference.
The Troy Trojans are going to be in big trouble early and often on Saturday. Duke should have no problem running the score up in this one and Troy won’t have any answers for the Blue Devils high powered offense. Duke wins this game by four touchdowns.
