The Baylor Bears and Buffalo Bulls will meet Friday night at UB Stadium in week 3 of the college football season.
The Baylor Bears have gotten off to a 2-0 start and have scored a combined 115 points in their first two games. In fact Bryce Petty and Baylor have the games put away so quickly, backup Seth Russell leads the Bears in pass attempts. Baylor is averaging 647 yards per game and more than seven yards per play. Three different Baylor players have topped 100 rushing yards, and wide receiver KD Cannon has four receiving touchdowns. Defensively, Baylor is allowing only 134.5 yards and 2.2 yards per play. Bryce Hager leads the Baylor Bears with 14 tackles and Xavien Howard has two interceptions to his name. It’s quite clear that Baylor has not lost a step despite losing a little bit of talent from last year’s squad.
USA TODAY Sports
The Buffalo Bulls are 1-1 after suffering a 47-39 loss to the Army Black Knights. Buffalo is quite solid offensively, especially with Joe Licata at quarterback, who is completing 69.4 percent of his passes and has eight touchdowns in the first two games. The Buffalo Bulls want to throw the ball around the field and average more than 500 yards of total offense. Unfortunately, the Bulls aren’t very deep at running back, as Anthone Taylor is the only player with more than 15 carries. Buffalo’s main weakness this season has been its defense that is allowing 419.5 yards per game and giving up 37.5 points per game. Keep in mind that’s without facing an offense as good as Baylors. Adam Redden leads Buffalo with 16 tackles and two tackles, while Brandon Crawford has three passes broken up and a forced fumble.
The Bears are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and 24-8 ATS in their last 32 games overall. The Bulls are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in September and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
While Baylor is much more talented than Buffalo, this is a short week and it will be the Bulls Super Bowl. This is also a Buffalo program that played Ohio State close last season and Georgia close two years ago. Give me as many points as I can get in this one.
