The Colorado Buffaloes and the Arizona State Sun Devils face off on Saturday in Boulder in Pac-12 college football action.
The Colrado Buffaloes are off to a 1-1 start as they head into their first home game of the season. Colorado lost to rival CSU in their opener and then outscored UMass in week 2. QB Sefo Liufau leads Colorado completing nearly 62 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and an interception. Christian Powell leads the CU ground attack but he averages just 3.67 yards per carry which is slightly better than Michael Adkins II who averages 3.48 yards per carry. Nelson Spruce is the top receiver for the Buffaloes with 7 catches and four touchdowns and Shay Fields has 14 catches. The Colorado defense has one interception, three sacks, and one fumble recovery, all areas that need improvement. Addison Gillam has 22 tackles to lead the defense, Tedric Thompson has 19, and Chidobe Awuzie has 12 tackles. Colorado looks to be an improving team but they still have some room to get better.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are off to a 2-0 start after demolishing Weber State in week one and New Mexico in week 2. ASU hasn’t been mentioned as a top contender in the Pac-12 but they seem to have plenty of talent to get it done on the field. QB Kelly Taylor is running Todd Graham’s offense completing 61.7 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and rushing for 98 yards. D.J. Foster leads the ground attack with 363 yards and four touchdowns and Jaelen Strong is the leading receiver with 13 catches. The Arizona State defense has three fumble recoveries and three sacks but no interceptions. Damarious Randall has 16 tackles including three for a loss and Laiu Moeakiola has 13 tackles including a sack to lead the ASU defense. Arizona State still has plenty to prove as we have only seen them against very weak competition.
Colorado is 4-1 against the spread in their last five Pac-12 games, 7-18 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 2-6 against the spread following a win. Arizona State is 11-5 against the spread after allowing less than 170 passing yards in their previous game and 1-4 against the spread after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. The favorite has covered the point spread in the last five meetings of these two.
We should expect some scoring here and the over looks to be a solid play and that is my free pick. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area and on the app.
