The Florida International Golden Panthers take the field with the Pittsburgh Panthers at FIU Stadium.
The Pittsburgh Panthers improved to 2-0 on the season after turning back the Boston College Eagles 30-20. The Panthers took control of this game in the second quarter and were never challenged once they took the lead with a late Eagles score making this look closer then it was. The defense held BC to 276 yards and picked off a pair of passes while eliminating the pass as a threat. Pitt had little problem moving the chains with the run with workhorse James Conner rambling for 212 yards on 36 carries with a nine yard TD run. The air attack left a lot to be desired with Chad Voytik going 10-20 for 111 yards with a pair of scores and a pick Tyler Boyd snaring five throws for 72 yards and both TD's which took some of the focus off the Pittsburgh ground game.

The Florida International Golden Panthers broke in to the win column with a 34-3 rout of the Wagner Seahawks. This wasn't a perfect performance with nine penalties and three lost fumbles but it was far better then Wagners eight penalties and and six giveaways. FIU won the yardage battle 377-212 behind a balanced attack that was effective yet not explosive. Alex McGough threw for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns while EJ Hilliard went 14-15 for 169 yards with Jonnu Smith the only FIU receiver of note with nine catches for 127 yards and a score. The Golden Panthers were productive on the ground behind Alex Gardner's 15 carry, 136 yard effort but the numbers were not big offensively because FIU didn't press the issue in the second half with a big lead.
I'm not sure the Panthers deserve to be such a large road favorite but I do know this will be decided in the trenches with the Pitt run looking to do damage. I'll give Pittsburgh the edge and we'll know by the first quarter where it's going...
