The Georgia Southern Eagles travel to Georgia Tech to play the Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon.
The Georgia Southern Eagles defeated Savannah State 83-9 this past weekend to win their first game of the season. The Eagles lost to North Carolina State by one points on the road in week one. Against Savannah State, the Eagles gained 684 total yards, while holding the Tigers to 295 total yards. RB Brandan Thomas and Ean Days combined for 229 rushing yards and three touchdowns as Georgia Southern destroyed Savannah State. The Eagles only threw five passes, WR Kentrellis Showers pulled in three balls for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Georgia Southern also played well against North Carolina State in week one, as they led in the final minutes but let the game slip away. Now the Eagles will go up against a Georgia Tech team this week that loves to run the ball too.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0 on the year after beating Tulane on the road 38-21 this past weekend. The Yellow Jackets gained 359 total yards, while holding Tulane to 327. Each team turned the ball over three times. Georgia Tech was an impressive 10-12 on third down and rushed for 344 yards against Tulane. Zach Laskey and Justin Thomas combined for 156 total rushing yards, while Tony Zenon and Tim Byerly each rushed for two touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets. The Georgia Tech defense gave up a ton of yards throw the air against Tulane, but they will fortunately face a weak passing attack this weekend. Georgia Tech beat Wofford in their home opener and will now face a rush heavy Georgia Southern team on Saturday.
I think this game will be a high scoring affair. Both teams will look to pound the ball on the ground and there may be less than 10 combined passes thrown at the end of this one. I think Georgia Tech will have more success slowing down Georgia Southern because they have higher caliber players and are familiar with this style of rushing attack. I think Georgia Tech wins, but I feel better about the over in this one.
