The Idaho Vandals look to put on a show for the Kibbie Dome Stadium crowd with the Western Michigan Broncos in town.
The Western Michigan Broncos opened their season with a spirited albeit losing effort in a 43-34 defeat at Purdue. The Broncos outgained the Boilermakers 456-407 and were arguably more balanced. Zach Terrell completed 23-46 for 243 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a pick with Daniel Braverman leading the WMU receiving corps with 130 yards on 13 catches. Javion Franklin gave the Broncos plenty of punch on the ground with 163 yards and three touchdowns including a 61 yard jaunt. The defense struggled to get stops at times which was the difference between winning and losing.

After storms wiped out a pair of games for Idaho the Vandals put up the good fight before falling to Louisiana-Monroe 38-31. It looked like it was going to be a long night with the Warhawks leading 21-7 after one quarter but the Vandals hung tough. The defense still needs help with ULM rolling up a hefty 524 yards but the Idaho passing attack showed potential minus mistakes. Matt Linehan threw for 324 yards with three scores but two interceptions might have cost Idaho the win. Johua McCain and Deon Watson led the Vandals receiving corps with 191 yards on 15 receptions with three TD's while Jerrel Brown ran for 117 yards to give the offense some semblance of balance.
I do like what I saw from Idaho and to be honest, Western Michigan wasn't all that bad either. I'm thinking Vandals at home but I'd wait to see if the line drops before betting...
