The Marshall Thundering Herd look to stay unbeaten when the Ohio Bobcats pay a visit in week three.
The Ohio Bobcats fell to 1-1 on the season with a 20-3 road defeat at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats. This could easily be explained by saying the defense more then held their own with 402 yards allowed but the offense never got going. The Bobcats mustered 223 yards and 13 first downs and had the ball less then 22 minutes because the Wildcats ran the ball 52 times. On the flip side Ohio couldn't run with less then 75 yards and throwing the ball is not something they do well yet. JD Sprague threw for 143 yards but Ohio needed more explosiveness and this offense has yet to find an identity.

The Marshall Thundering Herd are projected to have a shot at going undefeated and took another step in that direction with a 48-7 pasting of the Rhode Island Rams Saturday. I have seen both games played by Marshall and I don't think this team will be perfect after watching Miami (Ohio) score at will (for them) in the second half of the opener and then sleepwalk though the first half versus the Rams. Yes it was raining but fumbling five times and losing three versus inferior competition is a formula for disaster. Once Marshall did get going it was the Rakeem Cato show as he threw for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 143 yards and a score on the ground on nine tries. Devon Johnson was next in line with 137 yards while Davonte Allen totaled 115 receiving yards on five catches to give the Thundering Herd some explosiveness from someone not named Cato.
In my view Marshall has yet to play a full 60 minutes and will need to versus Ohio who will be more then happy to muddy the water because they don't have the skill players to match up. I'm backing the Thundering Herd and hope this is a four quarter game for them...
