The Ole Miss Rebels and the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns face off on Saturday in college football action.
The Ole Miss Rebels have gotten off to a strong start to their season as Hugh Freeze’s team is 2-0 after two games. Ole Miss started the season with a neutral site win in Atlanta and followed it up with a win at LP Field in Nashville over Vandy. Rebel QB Bo Wallace shook off a three interception first half in week one and he now has a 72.7 completion percentage and five touchdown passes. Ole Miss is spreading the ball around in the running game with I’Tavius Mathers and Jaylen Walton getting the most touches. Laquon Treadwell is one of the more exciting receivers in the country and he is tied with Evan Ingram for the most catches on the team with 11. The bigger story for Ole Miss has been the defense with five interceptions and four sacks but really it has been their solid tackling. Cody Prewitt is a leader on defense for Ole Miss but Mike Hilton is the leading tackler with 12. Ole Miss might make a run at winning the SEC this season.

The UL Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns started their season with a win over FCS Southern but they were unable to ride that momentum as they fell to Louisiana Tech in week two. ULL’s QB Terrance Broadway is a veteran and while has completed nearly 62 percent of his passes he has three interceptions to go with his four touchdown passes while rushing for 120 yards and another TD. Broadway gets help in the backfield from Elijah McGuire and Alonzo Harris who have carried the load with a combined 46 carries for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Gabe Fuseller has been Broadway’s top target with eight catches and Jamal Robinson has seven catches with two touchdowns. The ULL defense hasn’t gotten it done in the key difference making categories as they haven’t created a turnover and they have just two sacks. Trae Johnson is ULL’s leading tackler with 17 and Kevin Fouquier has one of the two sacks. ULL will need to improve greatly to be competitive in this one.
Ole Miss is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games, 5-2 against the spread against the Sun Belt, and 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games. ULL is 12-3 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 18-6 against the spread following a loss, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games.
The total isn’t out for this one but more than likely that is where my pick for this one is going to be so please check back a little later after the totals are released and I will post my free pick.
