The Syracuse Orange travel to Michigan to play the Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday afternoon.
Syracuse took last week off after beating Villanova at home 27-26 in double overtime in their season and home opener. The Orange did not play well against Villanova, converting 5 of 14 3rd down plays and committing 7 penalties in the game. The Syracuse offense gained only 320 total yards and only held onto the ball for 22 minutes of game time. QB Terrel Hunt completed 10 of 17 passes for 94 yards before being ejected for punching a Villanova defender late in the first half. QB Austin Wilson came in and completed 11 of 17 passes for 89 yards. WR Jarrod West caught 5 balls for 59 yards, while RB Prince-Tyson Gulley rushed for an impressive 100 yards and a touchdown. The Orange defense allowed 389 yards, 190 on the ground. Syracuse will need to play much better moving forward if they plan on having a decent season.

The Central Michigan Chippewas are 2-0 on the season after beating Chattanooga and Purdue in the first two weeks. The win against Chattanooga was no surprise even though they only won by 4 points, but the win at Purdue by 21 points, 38-17, was an upset over a power conference opponent. Central Michigan gained 33 total yards with a balanced offensive attack. QB Cooper Rush completed 11 of 16 passes for 172 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. WR Anthony Rice caught 2 balls for 66 yards and a touchdown. The most outstanding offensive player of the day was RB Thomas Rawls, who rushed 31 times for 155 yards with2 touchdowns. The Chippewas help the Purdue offense to 326 total yards and forced 3 turnovers. Central Michigan will look to knock off another power conference team this weekend at home.
Syracuse has had two weeks to prepare for this game and put their poor performance in week one behind them. Meanwhile, Central Michigan is riding high after taking down Purdue on the road last weekend. I think this game will be close and I will take the home dog on Saturday.
