The Cincinnati Bearcats seek their second win when the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks battle for the Victory Bell at Nippert Stadium Saturday.
The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks gave the Michigan Wolverines a fight for two quarters before wearing down late in a 34-10 defeat as a 31 poit road dog. This was a 17-10 contest entering the locker room before Michigan pulled away late behind a ground game that totaled 276 yards and averaged six yards per touch. The Redhawks mustered 198 yards but only 34 rushing yards leaving Andrew Hendrix to try to move the chains through the air. Hendrix completed 12-26 for 160 yards and a pick put struggled to connect with his receiving corps for the most part.

The Cincinnati Bearcats opened their 2014 schedule with a 58-34 victory over the Toledo Rockets. The Bearcats opened up a 41-14 lead at the half and survived 27 straight points from the visitors before finally putting this in the win column. The defense was a concern with 563 yards allowed with Toledo able to both run and throw. Quarterback Gunner Kiel and the Cincinnati receiving corps saved the day with Kiel completing 25-37 for 418 yards and six touchdowns. Mekale McKay was the receiver of choice with nine catches for 175 yards and a score but the Bearcats had ten players posting receptions. When Cincy ran the ball they were effective with Hosey Williams who rambled for 104 yards on 14 tries.
The Redhawks issues will be stopping Gunner Kiel in the air and preventing a shootout they can't win. If the Bearcats have an issue it is defensively where they were underwhelming versus Toledo. I'll back Cincinnati because of their scoring...
