The San Diego State Aztecs were ready to pull the upset in week two at North Carolina but they let it get away late and took a four-point loss. SDSU has had a week off to get past the loss at UNC and look for them to be fired up to get retribution here. Aztecs QB Quinn Kaehler has struggled as he has completed 60.7 percent of his passes but he has two touchdowns and four interceptions. Donne Pumphrey anchors the SDSU rushing attack with a 5.9 yard per carry average and four touchdowns and Chase Price averages 4.3 yards per carry. Eric Judge is the Aztecs leading receiver with eight catches and Ezell Ruffin is averaging 19.5 yards per catch. The San Diego State defense has two interceptions and two sacks, both numbers they will need to improve upon to have success. Trey Lomax is SDSU’s leading tackler, J.J. Whittaker has 13 tackles, and Na’im McGee has 12 tackles. San Diego State showed they were physical enough to play with anyone but the defense is going to need to create chances for the offense.
Oregon State is 2-5 against the spread against the Mountain West Conference, 18-6 against the spread following a bye week, and 9-3 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread. San Diego State is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 4-1 against the spread against the Pac-12.
This just looks like too many points in what should be a reasonably close game so I am going to take SDSU with the points.
