The Southern Methodist Mustangs play host to instate rival the Texas A&M Aggies in Saturday action.
The Texas A&M Aggies easily outdistanced the Rice Owls 38-10 despite a few drops that cost them some points. More scoring was obviously not needed as Kenny Hill gave the Aggies an explosive passing attack with 300 yards and four touchdowns on 20-31. Malcome Kennedy snagged seven throws to lead the Aggies receiving unit with 88 yards while Josh Reynolds and Speedy Noil gave the air attack some explosiveness with 139 yards on only five receptions with three TD's. Texas A&M were able to run with Tra Carson and Brandon Williams combining for 110 yards on 16 totes but everything this offense did was generally quick with plenty of offense squeezed in to just 16:46 of possession.

The Southern Methodist Mustangs have had a season to forget before they play their third game. After suffering a pair of defeats by a combined 88-6, head coach June Jones resigned with DC Tom Mason taking over on the sidelines. The Mustangs have issues in most areas and are dead last in the FBS offensively with just 171 yards per game with zero rushing attack. Defensively SMU has allowed 463 yards per game but have been pushed around on the ground with opponents pounding the run D for 253 yards. The good news is we are just two games in to the schedule and I don't know if things are just going bad or there are real issues.
The Mustangs have had two weeks to prepare for Texas A&M and there is always an air of mystery when a new coach takes over. I could be way off but I'll lay the points for now with too much firepower for the Aggies...
