The Ball State Cardinals visit the Toledo Rockets in the conference opener for both teams.
The Toledo Rockets took one on the chin in a 58-34 loss at Cincinnati in week three to drop their record to 1-2. The Rockets fell behind 41-10 at the half and spent the rest of the night playing catch up. In the end the Bearcats just found the endzone more often with 584 yards with Toledo totaling 563 yards but seeing drives stall in the first half. Logan Woodside filled in nicely at quarterback for the Rockets in place of Philip Ely with 322 passing yards and three touchdowns with Alonzo Russell making five catches for 114 yards and a pair of scores. Kareem Hunt paced the Rockets on the ground with 101 yards while Marc Remy added another 80.

The Ball State Cardinals struggled to move the football in a 27-20 defeat at the hands of the Indiana State Sycamores to fall to 1-2 after three games. Both teams totaled 361 yards with neither establishing a ground game. Jahwan Edwards gave the Cardinals 75 rushing yards but he needed 20 carries for under four yards per touch with a touchdown. The passing of Ozzie Mann was the only thing that kept Ball State alive as he connected on 24-46 for 266 yards with a 23 yard touchdown to Jordan Hogue to give his team a 7-3 lead. Hogue and KeVonn Mabon combined for 119 receiving yards while the biggest play of the game for the Cardinals was a 61 yard kick return by Eric Patterson.
I don't think Toledo suffered a huge dropoff from Ely to Woodside under center so the Rockets offense should be fine. I guess this game comes down to which team has looked better thus far and that's Toledo for me but check back later in the week...
