The Army Black Knights travel to Wake Forest to play the Demon Deacons on Saturday afternoon.
Army dropped to 1-1 on the season after losing at Stanford 35-0 last weekend. Army defeated Buffalo to start the season but the Black Knights were shutout by the Cardinal on Saturday. Army gained only 207 total yards and only 9 passing yards against Stanford. Army turned the ball over twice and converted only 4 of 14 on 3rd down. QB Angel Santiago completed 2 of 2 passes for a pathetic 13 yards. RB A.J. Schurr carried the ball 6 times for 65 yards, while RB Larry Dixon rushed for 60 yards on 19 carries. The Black Knight defense allowed 415 total yards to Stanford and they had no answer for the Cardinal QB Kevin Hogan. Army’s offense consists mostly of a rushing attack, as they have only passed for 67 yards in their first two games. The defense has performed poorly giving up 39 and 35 points in their first two contests. The Black Knights will have another tough road test this weekend.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dropped to 1-2 on the year after losing at Utah State 36-24 on Saturday. The Demon Deacons lost to ULM and then beat Gardner-Webb before losing to Utah State last weekend. Against Utah State, the Demon Deacons produced only 232 total yards and rushed for a miserable -25 yards rushing. Both teams turned the ball over twice and Wake Forest committed 10 penalties for 103 yards. QB John Wolford completed an awful 20 of 50 passes for 257 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. WR Cam Serigne caught 7 balls for 91 yards, while RB Isaiah Robinson rushed only 9 times for 13 yards. The Demon Deacons have made too many mistakes and lack experience on both sides of the ball. Wake Forest will look to get back on track when they play at home this weekend.
Wake Forest will need to dominate up front and stop the Army rushing attack if they want any chance of winning this game. John Wolford will need to play much more consists moving forward if the Demon Deacons can produce some more points. I think Wake Forest will come out throwing punches after a sloppy start to the season. I’ll take the points with the home team in this one.
