The Washington Huskies and the Georgia State Panthers face off on Saturday in college football action.
The Washington Huskies have started the Chis Petersen era 3-0 and are coming off of their most impressive win of the year blasting Illinois. QB Cyler Miles got the start last week and for the season has thrown for 371 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 113 yards and three touchdowns. Lavon Coleman is the Huskies leading ground gainer with 242 yards and Jaydon Mickens has 12 receptions but three of John Ross’ six receptions have gone for touchdowns. The UW defense has one interception, four fumble recoveries, and 15 sacks. Danny Sheltomn has 27 tackles with six sacks, Shaq Thompson has 23 tackles with a sack, an interception, and a fumble recovery, and Hau’oll Kikaha has 17 tackles including five sacks. Washington is still a work in progress but they are already half way to becoming bowl eligible.

The Georgia State Panthers got a one point win in their season opener but since then they have dropped their next two games. GSU QB Nick Arbuckle has been feast or famine with seven touchdowns and five interceptions while throwing for 1121 yards. Krysten Hammon has anchored the Panthers ground attack averaging 5.2 yards per carry but he was suspended last game and if he doesn’t go here it will be Kyler Neal who is averaging 6.3 yards per carry. The Georgia State defense has allowed yards and points in bunchesand they have two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and two sacks. Joseph Peterson has 39 tackles to lead GSU while Nate Simon has 18 tackles and Jarrell Robinson has two sacks. Georgia State is having trouble stopping teams and they turn the ball over far too often, not a good combination.
Washington is 4-1 against the spread against the Sun Belt, 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 home games, and 2-5 against the spread following a game that they covered the spread. Georgia State is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games, and 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games.
This is simply a ton of points and while Georgia State can’t stop the Huskies, they might be able to score enough to keep it within five touchdowns which is all they have to do to cover the point spread here.
