The Colorado State Rams travel to Boston College to play the Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
Colorado State improved to 2-1 on the season after a win over UC Davis two weeks ago and the Rams have had a week off to prepare for their next matchup. The Rams beat Colorado by 14 points in their home and season opener followed by a loss at Boise State by 13 points. The Rams are averaging 34.7 points per game, while allowing 25 points per game on defense. Colorado State averages 340 passing yards and 172.7 rushing yards per game, which rank 11th and 59th in the country so far this season. Senior QB Garrett Grayson has thrown for 993 yards to go along with 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Grayson is an experienced quarterback that has thrown for over 6,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in his career. Sophomore WR Rashard Higgins leads the team in receiving with 19 catches for 306 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. The Rams are a dangerous team that should not be taken lightly. Colorado State will make a long trip across the country before returning home to continue conference play.

Boston College improved to 3-1 on the season after destroying Maine 40-10 last weekend. The Eagles beat UMass, lost to Pittsburgh at home, and then beat USC to start the season. The win over USC was a major upset and a huge boost for the Boston College program. Even without the 2013 Doak Walker Award winner, Andre Williams, who left for the NFL, the Eagles have a strong running game. Boston College is averaging a 5th best 336.3 rushing yards per game so far this season. The Eagles are only averaging 124.3 passing yards per game, while averaging over 31 points per contest. The Boston College defense has played fine early on in the season, allowing just over 19 points per game. Senior QB Tyler Murphy has thrown for 491 yards to go along with 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions this season. Murphy also leads the team in rushing with 500 yards on 55 carries and 5 touchdowns. Senior WR Josh Bordner leads the team in receiving with 9 catches for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Eagles will need to play well at home this weekend their final out of conference game.
Colorado State and Boston College have surprised some people so far this season. Colorado State played well against Boise State, despite the loss. Meanwhile, Boston College beat USC at home. I think this will be a close game. Colorado State has more a balanced attack offensively, while Boston College will rely heavily on the play of Tyler Murphy. If the Rams can contain Murphy I think they have a shot at winning this game. I think it will be a tight one, so I’m going to take the points with the road team.
