The Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers face off on Saturday in Athens for a SEC college football matchup between the hedges.
The Georgia Bulldogs bounced back from their loss to South Carolina by blowing out Troy 66-0 but they are still looking for their first SEC win of the season. UGA QB Hutson Mason hasn’t been asked to do much but he has completed 71.2 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Hutson’s job has been made easy as the Georgia rushing attack is averaging 307 yards per game led by Todd Gurley and his 9.8 yards per carry average and Sony Michel who is averaging 10.3 yards per carry with half as many carries as Gurley. Michael Bennett leads the Bulldog receivers with 10 catches and two touchdowns and Chris Conley has eight catches. The Georgia defense has three interceptions, eight sacks, and two fumble recoveries and overall they are allowing 318 yards per game. Amarlo Herraera leads the Dawgs defense with 24 tackles including three sacks, Ramik Wilson has 23 tackles, and Leonard Floyd has two sacks. Georgia has played two ranked opponents already so they are well prepared for big time competition.

The Tennessee Volunteers are off to a 2-1 start and hey have had a week off to digest their loss at Oklahoma. The Vols played well for the most part against the Sooners but a horrible called turned the score out of reach and they never recovered. Tennessee QB Justin Worley still is inconsistent completing just 58.3 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and three interceptions. Jalen Hurd has been the Vols primary ball carrier averaging 4.4 yards per carry and Maarlon Lane is averaging 4.0 yards per touch. Marquez North is UT’s leading receiver wit 14 catches and two touchdowns, Alron Howard has 13 catches, and Josh Smith has 10. The Tennessee defense has three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and five sacks as they posses a ton of raw talent it is just a matter of how fast they can progress. A.J. Johnson has 29 tackles including three for a loss, Jalen Reeves-Maybin has 25 tackles, and Owen Williams has two sacks, an area the Vols will need to improve. Tennessee allows 129 yards per game against the run but that will be tested here.
Georgia is 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 games, 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight SEC games, and 1-7-1 against the spread following a win. Tennessee is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 7-18-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Tennessee has covered the point spread in six of their last eight games against Georgia.
The total in this one is set at 55.5 but that looks to be on the high side so my free pick will be just a lean to the under. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
