The Kibbie Dome will rocking when the South Alabama Jaguars take the field with the Idaho Vandals.
The South Alabama Jaguars took one on the chin in a 28-6 loss to visiting Georgia Southern in week four. The big concern entering this one was stopping the Georgia Southern option which didn't happen with the Eagles rolling up 335 rushing yards. Another worry was getting their offense going and that didn't happen either with just 296 yards. Kendall Houston and Xavier Johnson gave USA a threat on the ground with a combined 75 yards on 14 totes but the passing attack fell short. Brandon Bridge had problems hooking up with receivers with a 13-34 effort for 149 yards with a TD and a pair of interceptions with one pick returned 48 yards to set up a score.
USA TODAY Sports
The Idaho Vandals opened the season on an 0-3 note following a 36-24 defeat at the hands of Ohio. Idaho put up a decent fight offensively with 417 yards with three interceptions an obvious drawback. The Bobcats gained 505 yards but were held to field goals on three trips in the red zone. The Vandals tried to establish a viable run game to bleed the clock and shorten the game but were limited to under 75 yards and forced to the air which wasn't a bad option with Matt Linehan completing 33-56 for 353 yards with a pair of touchdowns and the three picks. Joshua McCain was the top gun among the Vandals receiving corps with 149 yards on five catches with touchdowns of 32 yards and 52 yards.
The Vandals defense has struggled so my thinking is the Jaguars ailing offense has to find a way to score or this will be a very long season...
