TDECU Stadium hosts the AAC opener between the Central Florida Knights and the Houston Cougars.
The Central Florida Knights have had two weeks off to celebrate their 41-7 decision over Bethune Cookman which was a game the Wildcats actually led 7-3 before the Knights took over. The defense held Bethune to only 173 yards and 3-13 on third down while the offense totaled 351 yards and scored virtually every time they sniffed the endzone. Justin Holman gave the Knights passing attack plenty of punch with 35 yard and 61 yard touchdown throws to JJ Worton and Breshad Perriman respectively. William Stanbeck rambled for 104 yards on 15 carries with a pair of scoring runs to give the UCF ground game a productive threat as well.

The Houston Cougars evened their record at 2-2 behind a dominant second half in a 47-14 rout of UNLV. The Cougars led 13-7 at the break before the offense caught fire with 534 with nearly 400 yards coming on the ground. On the flip side UNLV was held to 316 yards and turned the ball over three times. UH wasn't strong in the air with John O'Korn going 12-27 for 135 yards with a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions. It was a different story on the ground with Ryan Jackson rushing for 147 yards with Kenneth Farrow totaling 113 yards and Javin Webb 54 yards. Houston averaged just under eight yards per touch on 52 carries.
Right now I will give a slight nod to Houston but I'm not completely sold on this team yet so this is not etched in stone so check back Thursday morning...
