The UCF Knights and Houston Cougars will play Thursday night at Houston Football Stadium.
The UCF Knights picked up their first win of the season a couple of weeks ago and could desperately use their first win of the season over Division I competition. Central Florida is clearly missing Storm Johnson and Blake Bortles, as the Knights are averaging just 2.6 yards per carry and scoring 25 points per game. Justin Holman is completing 60.7 percent of his passes for 558 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions and he’s been sacked eight times in three games. The offensive line struggles certainly haven’t helped the running game, as William Stanback and his 137 rushing yards is the only positive contributions on the ground for UCF. The Knights have to find ways to get Breshad Perriman the ball more considering he’s averaging more than 25 yards per catch and is UCF’s top offensive playmaker. Defensively, the UCF Knights are allowing 335.3 yards per game and have forced four turnovers and nine sacks. Terrance Plummer leads Central Florida with 30 tackles and Thomas Niles has three sacks.

The Houston Cougars are still trying to figure out who they are with a 2-2 record. One thing Houston knows it has is a solid defense, as the Cougars have allowed 14 or less points in two of their last three games and are allowing 335 yards per game. The Houston Cougars have also forced 13 turnovers and nine sacks in just four games. Efrem Oliphant leads Houston with 46 tackles and Adrian McDonald has a pair of interceptions. Offensively, John O'Korn is completing 52.7 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and six interceptions, while the Houston ground game is averaging 5.1 yards per game. Deontay Greenberry and Daniel Spencer have combined for more than 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns. This game will tell us a lot about the Houston Cougars and where they’re heading.
The Knights are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. win. The Cougars are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 conference games and 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Houston's defense should eat Central Florida's offense for lunch with a defense that is forcing turnovers left and right. The Cougars also have a balanced offense that should put points on the board. The Knights are still trying to recover after losing so much talent to the NFL draft. Give me the home team by a touchdown.
